Curriculum:
I have been cared and followed up typhoid fever cases from 1990 in southeast region of Turkey. Dicle University Hospital is a referral center for serious salmonella cases in this area. I joined local and national salmonella studies. In 2000, we established a study on molecular typing of Salmonella typhi strains from Turkey using pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) technique at McMaster University, Ontario, Canada. After I was back to Turkey, we established a molecular laboratory for typing bacteria at Dicle University Hospital.
We established a case control study for finding out risk factors of typhoid fever in Diyarbakir. In 2005, we developed a diagnostic rule for typhoid fever cases using clinical and laboratory findings.
We are running a regional project about controlling of salmonella cases in Southeast Turkey. We are working on an international project about epidemiology of typhoid fever in Central Asia.
